As I've been growing and improving in my craft I've heard people comment that I have an eye for "Lifestyle Photography". I'm trying to get a feel for what that means exactly.

When I search for it online it had a long, wordy definition and then it simply referred to this as the "art of the everyday". What a beautiful sentiment. I love the idea that our everyday lives, our imperfect selves are absolutely worth documenting and more than that, celebrating. I’m finding that while editing sessions I end up obsessing over the little, imperfect shots of authenticity; the moments I can catch of genuine love, connection and sincerity.
In this particular shoot, sweet Aila wanted to play the whole time! What may have been an uptight, posed 2-hour session turned into an adventure led mostly by her inventive imagination.

We threw fluffy flowers into the air, she danced with mom, went hunting for the perfect flower bouquet and told me the most unbelievable stories about bunnies. It was high energy, playful and REAL. Aila was her own, independent and wildly creative self which resulted in the most personalized and beautiful family photos.
Since this evening adventure with Eva and Aila, I've made a goal for myself to find and document the real person inside. Whoever they are, I want to meet them and I want to document their incredible uniqueness for others to appreciate and love too. What an incredible privilege I have everyday to be trusted to create such perfect “everyday art“.

Yes! I love the "art of the Everyday." Your photos are real, authentic, full of energy, full of passion, in-the-moment. You ARE talented to create that in your photography. And it makes the photos so much fun to look at. Besides, Aila is a real cutie!
